Todays Tribal Wisdom!

Month Four!

Week One!

An acquaintance is not a friend; they are but a person you've met.

Do you know the difference between an acquaintance and a friend?

A true friend is someone you want to do the best for no matter what and what they do for you.

Are you a true friend, and is your friend true to you?

Once I do something, I then know the experience of that something.

How do you experience what you do?

When I experience the buzz, the warm fuzzy, I know deep down inside me that I have learnt from that experience.

Do you know why you have the buzz, your warm fuzzy feeling?

Once I have learnt from the experience, the good or the bad, I can never again say I don't know the experience.

Do you choose to learn from your experiences?

Once I have experienced something, good or bad, that experience is with me for life

Do you want all that you experienced to be with you for life?

Life is like the breath of a buffalo on a cold winter's day. It is seen, then it is gone, never again to be seen.

Do you know the shortness of life?

Week Two!

Jonny Cash said about any addiction or questionable habit, "One is too many, and a thousand isn't enough."

Do you give in to the first?

An addiction is knowing the buzz, the warm fuzzy, and not getting enough of it to satisfy the demand.

What's the demand you can't fill?

Conning is lying to yourself and others about needing the buzz.

Are you honest about needing the buzz?

To con is to go against, persuade, and trick my inner person into trusting the buzz, the warm fuzzy, rather than entrusting the reality of who I am!

Which do you trust? The buzz or your true self

All addictions and questionable habits are pacified by conning of self and others!

How and why are you conning yourself?

To be addicted is to live in the realm of lies by conning rather than living in the realm of truths about your desire for the buzz!

When do you step from the realm of truth to the realm of lying?

You are a leader as soon as you are asked a question to clarify another's position or what direction another is to take.

How is your leadership doing?

Week Three!

"Who remembers a poplar leaf after it has fallen? Who remembers a  person when they are dead." At-Toos - who questioned the great Cree warrior  Maskepetoon - the one with a broken arm - about killing and scalp taking off their hated Black foot neighbours. Kerry Wood  "The Great Chief!" 1957

How is your life's essence revealing the peace desired by all?

When Maskepetoon fully understood his vision "of his broken arm,"  for many years, he went across Canada pleading for his people to live in peace.

Do you have an inner drive for peace that causes you to speak up about the social desires for revenge, hatred and selfishness?

When his crippled friend At-toos was killed by a Blood warrior, it shook Maskepetoon into a realization of his vision and seeing himself with his outstretched arm trying to stop the carnage between the Cree and the Blackfoot.

What will bring you to understand your place in standing for peace here and now?

"You already know how to fight on the war trail, but perhaps you do not know that the greatest battles in life are fought to uphold truth, honesty, and peace against the ravages of  hatred and war." Kakaka, Cree medicine man to Maskepetoon - Kerry Wood

How are you upholding truth, honesty, and peace in our time and age?

"I, too, was once a warrior," said Maskepetoon. "Now I plead for peace before it is too late and Indians fall to the ground like poplar leaves drifting down from the yellow trees in autumn." Kerry Woods

Are you brave enough to stand before those who taunt truth and address them in truth?

"The gunshot ran out, and the tall Cree slumped in the saddle. The truth flag toppled to the ground, then Maskepetoon fell on it, and his heart's blood reddened the useless banner." "Our tribe is disgraced," muttered a Blackfoot elder..." Kerry Wood

Are you willing to give yourself for the best of others, no matter the cost?

"Who remembers a polar leaf after it has fallen?" "Who remembers the peacemakers?" Kerry Wood

Do you have the courage to remember the peacemakers that have come and gone over the years? Do you remember their message of peace to us? And if you recognize the peacemaker and their message, what is your message of peace to those around you today?

Week Four!

"Today, Nov 11, 2022, we closed the doors of our business to remember those who gave their lives for us.

What do we remember about those who gave their lives for us?

"Yes! Our anthem is sung, great battles are broadcast, the number of dead is proclaimed, poems of the past are read, addresses are given, and tomorrow, yes, tomorrow, and maybe for a few fleeting days, we may remember. Then, as time passes, life's business fades these memories, and we again live as we have always lived.

How long do you remember, and what will you recognize?

The ideals our forces fought and died for are but a few. The chief among these ideals is our freedom of speech.

Are we free to say what we want and be accepted for telling it?

Another freedom they fought and died for is the freedom to own property, to provide shelter, clothing, and food, and to protect us from the ravages of the environment and others.

Are we free to own property, shelter, clothing, and protection?

Another freedom is to do honest business and free trade without question, undo regulations, or government interference.

Are we really free to do business and trade?

Another is freely gathering and observing our chosen faith and religion without persecution.

Are we free to observe our faith and chosen religion without persecution?

Bert, a Second WW veteran, like thousands of others, returned with a demon (PTSD) that haunted him, forgiving himself for the best of Canada as he gazed in disbelief at the multi-cultural, egocentric selfishness and self-centred demands of our time, said  "And I killed POEPL FOR THIS!"

Do we really remember what they fought and died for? Or are we so focused on ourselves that we are pretending to appease our conscience by spending a few fleeting hours, one day a year, with a poppy amongst the masses? Or are you like them who gave of themselves, giving yourself for the best of others no matter the cost? The cardinal selfless ideal that they fought and died for?
